Collection Type: Hair Sample
To avoid cancellation by the lab, make certain: the sample is collected from the head (close as possible to the scalp) and the sample weighs .25 grams (or for reference- a tightly packed tablespoon).

How long does it take to receive results once the lab receives the sample?
On average, 2-3 weeks.
How will the results be provided?
You will be notified via email to login to Your Health Companion to retrieve your test results. Your Health Companion is a secure client portal where your current and future test results, supplement lists, and client history forms will be saved.
Can this test be performed internationally?
Yes.
Is shipping included in the cost of the kit?
Yes, a prepaid USPS shipping envelope is included. Shipments to UAE and Dubai do NOT have prepaid shipping.
US shipments can take up to 8 weeks to arrive at the lab if sent with the prepaid envelope. International shipments can take up to 12 weeks to arrive at the lab if sent with the prepaid envelope. Shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility if you would like to opt for a faster, trackable service.
How do I know where to send my sample if I need to ship the sample myself?

We recommend shipping the sample via courier (FedEx, DHL or UPS) so you can track your package. You can find more information on how to best ship your sample here.
If you are shipping multiple test kits in one larger package to Doctor's Data, including the Hair Elements Test, we recommend stapling the requisition form for the Hair Elements Test to the outside of the Hair Elements Test envelope containing your sample. Stapling the requisition form to the outside of the envelope allows the small envelope to be more prominent. We have found the Hair Elements Test can get lost when shipped within a larger package. Holistic Health International is not responsible if the laboratory loses a sample.
Do the samples need to be refrigerated and/or frozen?
No.
Does the kit come with an ice pack?
No, it is not needed.
Is a scale included with the kit to weigh my sample?
Yes.
What is the best tool/device to use to collect my head hair sample?
Scissors are recommended, the use of clippers or a razor could lead to contamination issues and are not suggested.
What do I do if the scale in my test kit does not work?
In case the scale that is included in the test kit does not work, a tightly packed tablespoon of hair will meet the sample requirements. The total weight should be 0.25g, any less and the lab cannot process the sample.
What happens if the lab cancels my sample because I did not provide enough hair?
We will send an email informing you of the cancellation. Store credit will be issued for the cost of the kit. You may order a new test and try again to submit a sample that meets the lab’s requirements.
I just dyed, bleached or permed my hair, can I still run this test?
Yes, simply check off the box on the requisition form.
Please note: The lab is not able to account for (and does not have reference ranges for) dyed, permed, or bleached hair due to the variety in types of chemical treatments. The lab analysis does not estimate the effect that chemical treatments may have on the results. If concerned about the quality of your sample, pubic hair can be used instead.
Do I need to stop taking supplements before collecting the samples?
No, you can continue taking supplements (as directed by your health care professional).
Is there someone at the office I can call to go over my results with?
We do not offer individual test file reviews. If you have chosen to receive test results with Dr. Amy’s client file review, you will receive Dr. Amy’s comments on your test results. If you have additional questions regarding your test results, we suggest working with your health care professional.
Will my insurance cover this test?
Any attempt at reimbursement for this test through your insurance company lies solely with the customer. No CPT Codes have been issued for this test and cannot be provided by HHI.
